A pilot was in a festive mood yesterday (wed) as he took his plane on a test flight in the shape of a giant Christmas tree.
The Emirates Airbus A380 superjumbo – the world’s biggest passenger aircraft – took off from Hamburg, Germany.
For three-and-a-half hours it flew at more than 500mph some 40,000ft over Germany, drawing an elaborate Christmas tree complete with baubles with its flight track.

The tree’s base was in Stuttgart while the tip was around 350 miles north in Hamburg.
An Airbus spokesman said: “It was a normal Airbus internal test flight before the delivery of a new aircraft.
“Thanks to the very good cooperation of the Air Traffic Control (DFS in Germany and Eurocontrol), it was possible to fly that routing.”
