A stunning Ferrari previously owned by McLaren F1 ace Jenson Button is expected to fetch £1 million at auction.
Former world champion Jenson, 32, owned the 217mph Ferrari Enzo from 2008 until 2011.
He sold the sports car last year – but was unable to publicise the sale because of the fierce F1 rivalry between McLaren and Ferrari.
But the current owner has decided not to hold onto the Enzo and has entrusted auction house Coys with getting him the best price.
It goes under the hammer at the “Spirit of Motoring” sale on October 13 in Ascot with an estimate of between £850,000 and £950,000.
This is more than double the car’s original £418,000 price-tag in 2004.
However, having covered just 800 miles and with the Enzo a guaranteed future classic, the final price could well go in excess of £1 million.
Ferrari launched the Enzo in 2004, naming the vehicle after the company’s legendary founder.
It has been fitted with a 6-litre V12 engine with develops 660bhp – enabling a 0-62mph time of just 3.65 seconds and a top speed of 217mph.
The Enzo is finished in the iconic Rosso Corsa with full leather racing seats in black with factory fitted 4-point harnesses in red.
It boasts a six-speed F1-style sequential shift transmission.
Somerset-born Button was the second owner of the supercar, which was built between 2002 and 2004 and registered in 2006. His name is still present on the car’s logbook.
Just 400 were built, with a number written off in high-speed crashes. The UK was allocated 25 of the models, all of which were left-hand drive.
And despite ten years old, it is still the fastest ever production Ferrari.
