Chelsea’s move for Liverpool striker Fernando Torres came a step closer this lunch time when the Spaniard was spotted leaving training – in a helicopter.
The Mirror says it saw Torres departing Melwood with Stamford Bridge or Chelsea’s training ground in Cobham the likely destination.
Other reporters have tweeted that Liverpool have accepted an offer from Chelsea for the attacker – with Torres having to undergo a stringent medical before any deal is finalised.
Liverpool fans will now have to accept Torres will be leaving Anfield after a goal-laden three-and-a-half year spell.
If Torres departs, Liverpool will be left with only one first choice striker in new signing Luis Suarez – who is waiting for his work permit to be approved by the Home Office.
The Anfield club have already had a bid for Newcastle’s Andy Carroll rejected and it’s rumoured an offer for German striker Mario Gomez has also been rebuked.
