This is the heart-stopping moment a Eurofighter jet came within a few feet of the open back doors of a transporter plane – at 5,000ft.
The pilot shows nerves of steel as he manoeuvres the £66million fighter up behind the Hercules transporter plane.
A TV crew who were filming the 1,500mph Eurofighter from the open rear doors of the Hercules watch in amazement as the jet inches so close you can see the pilot’s face.
The amazing footage forms part of a promotional video for the Eurofighter Typhoon which has now received 125,000 hits on YouTube.
The European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS), which produces the Eurofighter, says its unique aerodynamic stability enables it to fly with such precision.
A spokesman said: ”Perfection in airframe performance can give the pilot battle-winning edge.”
