Palamedes PR, the London PR agency, has been appointed by Dr Sharad P. Paul for a UK book PR campaign.
Dr Paul, one of the world’s foremost authorities on skin cancer and cutaneous surgery, has tasked the agency – a market leader in non-fiction PR – to handle the interests of his latest book, Skin: A Biography. The book, published by Fourth Estate, an imprint of HarperCollins, draws on extensive research and scientific expertise.
Dr Paul was awarded the Chair’s Award, the New Zealand Medical Association’s highest honour, in 2012; he received a Health Innovation Award in 2003; was a finalist for the New Zealander of the Year Award; and has featured in Time magazine.
He is a senior lecturer in Skin Cancer and Surgery at the Universities of Queensland, Australia and Auckland respectively.
Speaking yesterday, he said: “Palamedes PR is a respected authority on UK book PR, and as such it made professional sense to employ them for their expertise.
“I feel that it is important to understand the scientific basis for skin colour – both from an anthropological, social and medical point of view – and my research shows that racial superiority or inferiority is just a ‘pigment’ of our imagination.”
A spokesman for Palamedes PR added: “We have a long and proven track record in this sector, and look forward to delivering the publicity that this important title thoroughly deserves.”
