A DOZY motorist who cut a caravan in half in order to use it as a makeshift trailer found himself in trouble with the police. See SWNS story SWCARAVAN; Plymouth officers attended a layby on the A38 heading towards Marsh Mills at about midday on Saturday, where they found the modified caravan attached to a broken down car. PC Pablo Beckhurst found the man was also driving without insurance. The driver had borrowed a friends vehicle to drive on trade insurance, but the policy was not valid, he said. He had bought a caravan for £25, cut the roof off it and had every intention of driving it all the way to the M5 at Exeter, one of the busiest roads down here.
