A woman in her anti aging regime

A woman’s struggle against the signs of aging begins at just 29, it has been revealed. After spending their teens trying to look older than they really are, women finally become happy with their appearance in their early twenties but that begins to change when nearing their thirties.

Women become more concerned with trying to look young again amid fears of wrinkles, sagging boobs, bingo wings and crow’s feet.

Thinning hair is a major worry for three in 10 women, while a third will strive to battle grey hairs.

A further third of women are worried their bottom will head south, while 29% want to avoid a wrinkly cleavage at all costs.

Andrew Groom, Buying Director of Superdrug, which conducted the study of 2,000 women to launch new products in the Superdrug Optimum PhytocellTecTM skincare range said: “Some women may always worry about how they look, but it is incredible to think that those who are still in the prime of their life at age 29 are already worrying about the effect aging will have on their face and body.

“That said, it’s really never too early to take care of your skin, and today’s women are lucky that products on our shelves really work.

“A quick skincare routine started at 29 really will combat the signs of aging and it’s got to be worth the effort.

“Luckily today’s products not only work, but when such high-tech innovation as that in our new range can be found at such a good value price, we’re really making anti-aging accessible to everyone.”

The study shows other top aging concerns for ladies include facial hair, a middle aged spread and thread veins.

Double chins, age spots, wrinkly hands and thinning lips also worry women in their twenties.

The average female reckons she spotted her first wrinkle at 29- as such she now spends up to 12 minutes each day fighting the signs of aging by applying a variety of creams and make up.

That’s the equivalent of 73 hours a year, or three entire days dedicated to an anti-aging skincare and beauty routine.

When it comes to looking your age:

  • More than one in ten women feel they look older than they are (by a surprising average of six years);
  • A more confident 60% feel younger than their years (and claim good make up and skin care routines enable them to look six years younger).
  • 45% of respondents are lucky enough to receive compliments about how young they look from others, and believe it is worth making a concerted effort to look younger.

Andrew Groom, Superdrug Buying Director added: “Just a decade ago the kind of technology that could now be found for a tenner, would have cost hundreds of pounds.

“Unlike the designer brands we don’t focus on fancy packaging, we don’t pay celebrities millions of pounds to advertise our skincare, quite simply we concentrate on offering products that work at the best price.

“This research mirrors our new products in the Optimum range which comprises two complete collections, one of which is developed for women in their late twenties.”
