A lucky dog has taken up residence in Britain’s poshest kennel after its owner created a PALACE – under the stairs.
Tom Wadsworth, 36, has given his beloved 15-month-old Beagle Jessie her own lavish ‘cottage’ complete with four-poster bed and Victorian decorations.
The unique doggie hideaway is made from secondhand bits and bobs Tom had lying around and cost just £100 to make.
Jessie was hesitant to move in at first but now loves her new home and uses it every day and night.
The outside features a secret door with a hatch, a window for her to look through and a Victorian style lantern.
The Victorian theme continues inside with photoshopped pictures of Jessie in regal Victorian clothing.
Tom, a drone operator, who lives in Plymouth, Devon with partner Emma Rollins, 33, a probation worker, said they have owned Jessie since she was a puppy.
He added: “It is all very regal, and just a bit of fun. The space was cluttered with rubbish so we wanted to turn it into something nice.
“We started by moving her bean bag into where the bed is. It took her a while to learn how to use the secret door but now she used it every day and night.
“I just want people to see what they could do with spaces they don’t think about.
“I finished it last week. I originally did the outside but then Facebook and social media told me to do the inside as well so I did.”
Tom started the project just over a month ago to save space in his home.
He added: “She was sleeping in a pen in the living room which was taking up quite a bit of space.
“We decided that she was old enough now to move into her own space and we had a lot of rubbish in there and I just thought why not clear it out and make it her space.
“It is quite big. She has got all her toys spread out in one corner and her bed actually goes really far back and under the stairs.”
Although it may be out of the ordinary, Tom made sure to make the outside fit with the rest of the house.
Since sharing his pictures on the project on social media, Tom says he has been told he should promote his services to the rich and famous.
He hopes his project will inspire people to do something with the spaces they don’t normally think about, and give them some inspiration to create something for their loved ones.
He added: “I am busy but I like to do things in my spare time instead of sitting in front of the TV.”
Friends and family are constantly going round to see it, but so far Jessie is the only dog lucky enough to give it ago.
Tom added: “They thought I had too much time on my hands.
“But Jessie has got a pretty good temperament and knows what’s her space and to respect it.”
