Rock icon David Bowie has proved he is a dab hand with a paintbrush after three of his self-portraits were sold for thousands of pounds at auction.
Painted during the 1990s, the warped images form part of the star’s prolific ‘D-Heads’ series produced during that decade.
Bowie, famous for hits including Starman and Fame, attended art school and his only O level is in art.

To date he has created over 5,000 paintings.
Auctioneer David Lay sold the three pieces for £6,500 at Penzance Auction House, Cornwall.
He said: “David Bowie’s reputation as a cultural icon meant that we were expecting a good response.
“These three self-portraits came from the estate of well-known St Ives art dealer ‘Gillie’ Gilbert who I think would have enjoyed the attention that this collection created.”
