A newlywed couple were flying high after they tied the knot – dressed as SUPERHEROES.
Imaginative Neil and Sharon Vaughn donned Batman and Wonder Woman costumes when they married in a themed ceremony.
The couple and all their guests dressed as comic-book heroes and villains for the event at a countryside estate in Paignton, Devon.
Sharon, 40, made her entrance with the Wonder Woman theme tune playing in the background and flanked by bridesmaids – dressed as the PowerPuff girls.
Waiting for her was caped crusader Neil, 46, who had Robin as his best man and the Joker as the master of ceremonies.
Among the guests were a host of characters including Superman, the Incredibles, Iron Man, the Incredible Hulk and Captain America.
Neil, of Cullompton in Devon, said they came up with the idea as he and Sharon both like to wear fancy dress on a night out.
He said: ”We are not particularly traditional and we wanted to have a fun day with our friends, so I suggested we have a themed wedding.
”I have always wanted to be Batman, ever since I was a little boy and Sharon said she had always wanted to be Wonder Woman.”
Neil spent #180 on his rubber Batman costume and Sharon’s Wonder Woman outfit cost #100.
Sharon, an administrator, said the pair had saved thousands on traditional wedding accessories by having their wacky ceremony.
She said: ”Our wedding was absolutely amazing and it cost us less than some couples would spend on just the dress.
”We were not allowed to see each other’s costumes before the big day, but when I did see Neil he looked fantastic as Batman.
”We put a lot of effort into our costumes and our guests did as well. It was such a great day.”
Neil, who owns a children’s entertainment business, proposed to Sharon on Valentines Day.
The couple, who have five children from previous relationships, will honeymoon in Australia.
