See National News story NNSUGAR: Starbuck’s Hot Mulled Fruit contains a staggering 25 teaspoons of sugar, the equivalent of nearly three cans of Coke, a new survey found. The chain’s grape with chai, orange and cinnamon venti – which comes in a pint serving – has the equivalent of 25 teaspoons of sugar, more than more than three times the maximum sugar limit for adults of seven teaspoons. Their Hot Mulled Fruit with apple with chai, dried apple and cinnamon venti was the second worst offender with 22 teaspoons, while a large Costa Coffee’s Chai Latte has the third most amount of sugar with 20 teaspoons. The survey of 131 drinks cold by the top high street chains and fast food restaurants showed that 98 per cent would receive a ‘red card’ for having more than four teaspoons of sugar.
