Coronations Street’s 50th anniversary tram crash episode was so realistic that passengers called a travel advice line to check the tram service was alright.
Manchester’s Metrolink tram system confirmed they received at least six calls after the episode, which drew a record 14 million viewers, was aired on Monday.
It is thought that a spoof news bulletin which follwed the episode may have confused some viewers.
Last night’s Coronation Street saw Ashley Peacock become the crash’s first fatality after he was crushed by falling debris.
ITV will be screening an hour-long live episode of the popular soap at 8pm tonight. Two more characters are expected to lose their lives in the aftermath of the horrific crash.
The live episode has been beset by security and weather worries, with The Sun reporting an alleged Al-Qaeda threat to the set. All cast and crew will have to pass through full body scanners.
