Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles has smashed his world record radio broadcast attempt and managed to raise £2.4 million for charity in the process.
At 8am this morning the breakfast radio host announced he had passed the 50 hour mark with his stint, which began on Wednesday, setting a new Guinness World record.
Chris and his sidekick ‘Comedy’ Dave Vitty were presented with a world record certificate by Take That star Gary Barlow.
They also raised a whopping £2.4 million for Comic Relief UK through listeners’ donations.
The pair were joined by guests including Katy Perry, Lily Allen, Davina McCall and Jimmy Carr throughout their mammoth broadcast.
Other Radio 1 DJs, such as Fearne Cotton, Scott Mills and Nick Grimshaw, helped out as guest DJs to lighten the load.
Chris and Dave were originally attempting to break the Radio 1 in-house broadcast record of 37 hours – set by Simon Mayo in 1999 – but announced on Wednesday they had decided to go the whole way and set a new world record.
