Cambridge students have cancelled plans for a controversial jelly-wrestling contest with bikini-clad girls at a boozy end-of-term party.
The raucous event had become part of the post-exam celebrations at all-male Magdalene college.
Girl were paid to ‘fight’ in a paddling pool filled with slime in front of braying undergraduates.

But opponents called for an end to the ‘sexist’ charade and an online petition opposing it attracted 1,174 signatures.
The organisers, a society calling itself The Gentlemen Wyverns, said: “In the light of the recent petition The Wyverns have decided to cancel the ‘jelly wrestling’ at this year’s garden party.
“We, as a society, are committed to ensuring all party-goers have the best time possible and understand the concerns of some of them.”
Critics said the event “degrades, devalues and marginalises” women.
The petition organisers said: “This is such a fantastic move forward for all of us at Cambridge and I’m so glad The Wyverns made this decision.”
