No matter what the occasion, bubbly always gets the party going.Crémant de Bourgogne is Burgundy’s bubbly, made in the traditional ‘Champagne’ method and as the festive season approaches, it is a good way to add sparkle to any event. Serve this light, fruity wine as an apéritif or with delicious desserts.
www.burgundytoday.com is an information site, a magazine online, for English speaking travellers about the Burgundy region of France.
Until the end of November, the website is running a competition offering the prize of a case of Crémant de Bourgogne, Perle d’Aurore Brut Rosé from Louis Bouillot in Nuits St. Georges, the region’s oldest and one of the most prestigious Crémant makers.
This particular rosé, fresh and fruity wine has won awards worldwide. The competition to win 12 bottles of Crémant takes the form of a simple prize draw and is open to anyone over 18 years of age.
2015 has been a good year for Burgundy.
In July the Côte d’Or wine area was granted UNESCO world heritage status, and conditions were particularly favourable for a good grape harvest at the end of August.
Looking ahead to 2016, in January Burgundy joins up with the Franche-Comté region, a very undiscovered and unspoilt part of France.
Stunning, more mountainous scenery, ideal for hikers; rich cheeses from the lush pastures, and yes, more wine on a smaller scale from the independent growers awaits the visitor.
