A wannabe pop star cancelled a charity skinny dip after his fans’ parents complained to police – who warned he could be arrested for indecent exposure.
Sam Callahan, 19, planned to raise cash with an early morning nude swim in park lake in Chelmsford, Essex.
The budding pop star – who has a large female following on his YouTube and Twitter sites – organised the swim for 5.30am last Friday.
But the singer’s plans were plunged into doubt when information about the event was leaked to his 20,000 Twitter followers.
Concerned parents contacted Chelmsford City Council worried their young daughters would see something they shouldn’t.
Council officials issued a stark warning to Sam to keep his clothes on – or risk being charged with indecent exposure.
The e-mail read: “The council has been made aware that Mr Callahan intends to skinny dip in the pond in Central Park, Chelmsford.
“Doing so would be against the by-laws of the use of the park and could also be viewed as a criminal act of exposure by the police.
“The council takes the safeguarding of children and young people very seriously and we must insist that Mr Callahan refrain from any activity that could involve exposing himself to young people.”
Devastated Sam, from Great Totham, Essex, said: “I’m absolutely gutted, I was just trying to do a really good thing for charity and now this.
“I had planned to just stick a hat over anything private, there wouldn’t be anything showing and it was just supposed to be a laugh.
“Why are nudist events legal and this isn’t? At least this would be for a good cause?”
Sam’s mum Tracey added: “It looked like a lot of the girls were going to show up and watch but that was never the plan.”
