A ‘British Josef Fritzl’ who groomed and repeatedly raped his teenage daughter so she could provide a baby for his infertile girlfriend has been jailed indefinitely.
The perverted 46-year-old abused his 16-year-old daughter, who has the mental age of a seven-year-old, on a daily basis after his wife left him three years ago.
He raped her repeatedly because he wanted another child to raise with his lover, who was infertile following a hysterectomy.
When his daughter fell pregnant with his child he groomed her 14-year-old friend and raped her after plying her with booze.
His daughter gave birth to a baby boy in December 2008 and she pretended it was the son of an ex-boyfriend after he threatened suicide if she told police of the abuse.
The man was handed an indeterminate jail sentence at Cambridge Crown Court earlier today after he was convicted of three rapes, sexual activity with a child, sexual assault of a child and perverting the course of justice.
Judge Jonathan Haworth told the court the rapist was a ”serious risk to teenage girls” and jailed him for a minimum of seven years and 45 days.
He said: ”You were left with the care of the daughter when the wife separated from you in early 2008.
”By the end of 2008 you had groomed and started abusing your daughter and you got her pregnant.
”When she fell pregnant you stopped raping her but following the birth of her child you carried on.
”You took advantage of your daughter and groomed and abused her and her younger friend. The impact has been devastating.
”Goodness knows how long it will take for her to recover from what you did to her.
”You should be considered a high risk of sexual activity to young girls known to you or become known to you. You are a serious risk.
”I have no hesitation in considering that you pose a serious risk to teenage girls or similar offences.
”The real difficulty I have in this case is that your denial and lack of understanding is so great that I don’t know when you are going to be fit to be around teenage girls again.”
Judge Haworth told the court the sick dad even faked learning difficulties and fabricated text messages to implicate his daughter as the instigator of the abuse.
The abuse began in Spring 2008 and continued until March last year when the man’s daughter contacted police after discovering he had abused her 14-year-old friend.
In a shocking police interview played to the jury during a trial in December, the woman told how her father threatened to kill himself if she told anyone about the rapes.
The girl and her father, both from a village in Cambridgeshire, cannot be named for legal reasons.
Duncan O’Donnell, prosecuting, said the abuser’s daughter was ”terrified” of her father but has been ”happy” since he was taken into custody following his arrest.
His 14-year-old victim has been unable to return to school, barely leaves her home and her family has been forced to move away from Cambridgeshire.
There was an audible ”yes” from ecstatic family members in the public gallery when the man was jailed.
Detective Constable Kerry Bullivant, of Cambridgeshire Constabulary, said the victim’s family were ”incredibly pleased” and hoped to move on with their lives.
She said: ”On behalf of the victims and their family they are very pleased with the indeterminate sentence because it shows the gravity of the crime and it goes to keep the public safe in the future.”
