COLLECT – Tilly Sawford pictured as a fairy prior to the burning incident. A miracle toddler who had 340 operations after suffering 86 per cent burns to her body when she fell into a bath of scalding hot water is having her leg amputated so she can WALK again. See NTI story NTIWALK. Brave Tilly Sawford’s injuries were so severe after the accident when she was just 15-months-old that doctors gave her just a five per cent chance of survival. Her devastated parents Emma, 28, and Kyle, 28, were warned she wouldn’t survive five times over the next six months as she was treated in intensive care. But the battling youngster defied medics after having hundreds of operations – including having SHARK cartilage and COW collagen grafted onto her skin. Incredibly, despite falling head-first into the bath of scalding water, the only place she did not get burned was her face. Tilly has undergone a staggering 340 operations to repair damaged skin and straighten her legs as the scars from the third-degree burns are so deep they affect her walking. But the wheelchair-bound youngster has now been told by doctors she is facing more surgery and must have a leg amputated and a prosthetic limb fitted next year.
