A boy racer nicknamed “The Stig” who killed a young bride-to-be while speeding on a wet country road has been jailed for 16 months.
Luke Anderson, 23, touched 81mph in his VW Golf when he swerved into oncoming Hannah Seeley as she drove home from work.
Midwife Hannah died instantly as she crashed into a field where she was found by her mother Karen and fiance Mark Wade who went looking for her when she failed to return home.
Hannah, 23, who was due to marry five months later, was laid to rest in her wedding dress and ring by her heartbroken family.
Anderson admitted causing death by careless driving on the A13 at Pakenham, Suffolk in April last year.
He lost control on the damp road and crossed the central double white lines and hit Hannah who had no time to react.
He was not been wearing a seatbelt and claimed to have no recollection of the accident when interviewed by police.
Ipswich Crown Court heard Anderson, of Barningham, Suffolk, was nicknamed after Top Gear’s mystery driver by pals.
Judge John Dervaux told him: “You were driving at a speed that was both in excess of the speed limit and too high for you to negotiate the bend safely in wet conditions.
“You were soley responsible for a collision which ended the life of a 23-year-old midwife.”
Hannah’s devastated father Kevin described his family’s heartbreak in a victim impact statement read to an earlier hearing.
He said: “On Monday, April 23 2012, Karen, Hannah’s mother; Kirsty, her sister, Mark, her finace and myself visited Hannah in the chapel of rest.
“Her eyes were half open as if she was walking up. If only that was true rather than closed for eternity.
“When I kissed her forehead she was so cold. Hannah didn’t like the cold, never has, never will.”
In an emotional outburst across the court he told Anderson: “A wedding dress in a coffin, Luke – a wedding cross in a coffin.”
Defending, Ian James said Anderson was “truly sorry for what he had done” and had pleaded guilty at the first opportunity.
Anderson was also banned from driving for two years.
