Police officers hunting for missing teenager Amber Peat have discovered a body.
Officers cordoned off a patch of land on Westfield Lane, Mansfield, Notts., at around 7.30pm last night (Tues) around half a mile from where Amber went missing on Saturday evening.
At around 8pm senior officers were seen entering the house of Amber’s mum Kerry Peat and stepdad Danny Peat. Nottinghamshire Police have said that the couple has been informed of the discovery.
A short time later at around 8.30pm forensic officers were seen setting up a white and blue forensics tent around a bush that ran over a path on Westfield Lane.
Police have said that the body has yet to be formally identified.
Stunned local residents took to Twitter to express their sadness at the discovery of a body close Amber Peat‘s home.
Mark England tweeted: “Got a daughter in the same class as Amber Peat. Feel angry & upset with the news from Ladybrook. Daughter is devastated”

“Kids were out in the rain last night looking for her. My girl is beside herself”.
Jon Leighton wrote: “Really sad for the family of Amber Peat. What a truly awful thing to have to cope with. #mansfield”

London 2012 Paralympic swimming silver medallist Charlotte Henshaw, who is originally from Mansfield said: “A sad day for my home town. Thinking and praying for Amber Peat‘s loved ones. Devastating news very close to home.”
