A hero binman saved these tiny kittens from certain death after he heard their faint meows and snatched them from a recycling centre SHREDDER.
Refuse worker Tony Ford, 38, plucked the two-week old cats to safety and ordered the machine at the shredding facility in Keynsham, Bristol, to be turned off.
He wrapped the pair – since named Riley and Grace – in a warm blanket and nursed them back to full health at home before handing them in to the Bristol Heart Rescue Centre.
Married dad-of-three Tony said: ”I heard some whining, so I stopped and started digging around.
”First I found the white one and then found the black one as well. They were soaking wet, shaking like mad and looked like they had just been born.
”If I hadn’t seen them they would have been shredded. It doesn’t bear thinking about.”
Veterinary nurse Mandy Evans, who treated the kittens at Oldland House Veterinary Surgery, Bristol, said: ”We were horrified. They were in a bad state.
”If they hadn’t been brought in they would have died.”
The Bristol Heart Rescue Centre are now seeking new home for the lucky pair of kittens.
