A bingo-lover has been banned from his local hall – because he has TOURETTE’S Syndrome.
Louis Bunn, 23, was kicked out and banned for life, after staff thought his involuntary tics, shouting and swearing were deliberate acts of disruption.
Louis, of Eastbourne, East Sussex, was booted out of Leo Leisure Bingo last Sunday, in the middle of a game.
Louis, whose involuntary swearing becomes worse when he’s stressed, says that during the course of the evening, the bingo caller poked fun at his accidental outbursts.
He said: “A member of staff was very profane to me and this made my tics worse.
“When I confronted this person because my vocal tics got worse I told him I couldn’t help it as I was the one being warned and I was the person being discriminated against.
“As the night went on the staff working the bingo made a few remarks on the mic regarding my Tourette’s and I felt like I was being singled out.”
He says he has doubled the dose of his medication dose as a result and claims that bingo hall owner Peter Brown and his staff kicked him and his mates out of the hall.
Peter, who knows Louis as a regular, said: “I am aware of his condition and have never had a problem with it in anyway.
“I’ve spoken to other people to make them aware of his condition and told them that he was a nice person.
“But we’d had a complaint the week before that he had jumped out of his seat and got very aggressive towards an old lady.
“I told him he was welcome to continue playing but we would not accept him being aggressive to customers.
“He was aggressive to me, my female members of staff and I was sworn and spat at. I’ve never been spoken to like that.”
