Barclays handed a whopping £40 million total payout to one of its highest paid managers, the appropriately-named RICH RICCI.
According to The Guardian, a huge £110 million pay pot was dished out between Ricci and four other top managers by the banking giant.
Ricci and another banker, Jerry del Missier, both received over £40 million, dwarfing chief executive Bob Diamond’s £27m pay packet.
The fat cat’s name – which sounds suspiciously like Richie Rich, the spoilt millionaire comic book character played by Macauley Culkin in the film adaptation – has been causing plenty of amusement amongst Twitter users.
One wrote: “You couldn’t make it up – top paid bankers called Diamond and Rich Ricci.”
Another posted: “If I change my name to Gareth Greedy can I have a job at Barclays please?”
Barclays were forced to published their pay details under the Project Merlin agreement with the Government.
It requires them to release pay details of the five highest-paid staff reporting to the chief executive.
