A banned driver broke his own neck when he got back behind the wheel and crashed THREE times in two days.
Drugged-up Robert Brean also threatened other road-users and hit a PCSO before ending up in hospital with his neck fractured in several places.
The 21 year-old had been stripped of his licence for two years after a police chase.
But 14 months later – high on drink and drugs – he flouted the ban on a weekend of motoring mayhem in North Somerset.
Richard Posner, prosecuting, said it began when he threatened a family after narrowly missing their car as he took a corner too fast.
Mr. Posner said: “His eyes were glazed over and he looked menacing and agitated.
“He threatened to commit criminal damage, saying he had the family’s number plate and he would jump on the car and put a brick through the window.”
Police found Brean nearby sitting in a Peugeot but he sped off and gave ‘a glancing blow’ to PCSO Michael Benfield as he approached him.
The next day Brean was seen crashing a VW Passat into walls before driving off.
He was then involved in a collision with another car with left him with the broken neck and injured other people in his car.
Brean, of Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, was jailed for 28 months at Bristol Crown Court and banned from driving for another three years.
He admitted threatening to destroy or damage property as well as three charges of driving while disqualified and two charges of dangerous driving.
Judge Graham Hume Jones told him: “The conduct is most serious because it is very dangerous driving.”
Nadeem Aullybocus, defending, said Brean’s girlfriend had suffered a miscarriage and he had bottled up his emotions and returned to alcohol and drug abuse.
He said: “This is no excuse but it is why he relapsed.
“He’s broken his neck in numerous places. He’s fortunate to be alive.”
