June Ridgeway, 90, from Kidderminster, Worcestershire. A daredevil great-great grandmother who is losing her sight took to the sky in her first paraglide for her latest hair-raising challenge for charity. See NTI story NTIFLY. Brave June Ridgway (corr), 90, who has two great-great grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and ten grandchildren, suffers from macular degeneration, an eye condition that causes the gradual loss of central vision, and has had laser eye treatment and two cataracts removed. But the retired carpet factory worker and cleaner began following her ambitions when she was 60 and, by the age of 70, she had gained an orange belt in kickboxing. She has also completed daring parachuting, scuba-diving and motorcycling challenges for charities in her old age. Now the adventurous widow has raised around £1,000 for Blind Children UK with her paraglide.
