98-year-old Ethel Westover from Lancaster revealed dying wish was to travel to her funeral in a yellow hearse – so family gave her “lovely jubbly” send off in a Reliant Robin. See Ross Parry copy RPYDEL : When Ethel Westover revealed her dying wish was to travel to her funeral in a yellow hearse her family gave her a “lovely jubbly” send off in a Reliant Robin. Anyone who saw the 98-year-old’s funeral cortege doing a final lap along Morcambe’s promenade they would be forgiven for thinking they were watching an episode of Only Fools and Horses. But the yellow Trotters Independent Robin Reliant van was pulling along good humoured Ethel’s coffin in an unusual funeral that her family were sure would be fitting for a great woman. Ethels nephew Mick Dennison, 58, said: Auntie Ethel sprang it on us when she told us on her death bed that her favourite colour was yellow – we didn’t even know that. “And then she said she wanted a yellow hearse. I’m sure she did it on purpose to have a final laugh at us.”
