For most of us, the recent COVID-19 lockdowns around the world have brought with them a whole load of downtime in our daily routines that we’re not the most equipped to deal with. Studies have shown how important it is that we stack our days as best we can and remain active/busy, but that can be hard when there aren’t as many outlets readily available as they once were.
Here are three ways to keep yourself busy during these strange times.
1-Get a video call with friends and family going
We’re all so lucky to be living during these times with ultra-fast broadband speeds and a whole range of systems, services and platforms that let us connect with our friends and families across the world anytime we like. Instead of viewing these times as restrictions, we should have the perspective that it’s a unique opportunity to connect with those closest to us in ways we never did before.
There have been countless stories of people connecting in new and inventive ways post-lockdown, and things such as quizzes, cooking sessions and drawing competitions are all great ways of joining together and creating the homely atmosphere from afar.
2-Online games
On the subject of competition and challenges, gaming is amongst some of the purest and most effective ways of killing some time whilst we wait for our favourite things to return. From video games to online slots at this crypto casino, gaming offers more than just a fun couple of hours. Gaming has shown to improve reflexes, lower stress levels and help with all kinds of social skills by helping to establish a healthy competitive environment and encouraging teamwork.
The rise of online gaming also brings with it the potential of winning some extra cash, which is always a plus in these times!
3-Binge a TV series
One of the benefits of being inside for longer periods of time than before is that we can all kick back and binge on a TV series or two and not feel guilty about it! There are so many streaming services available to choose from, with the likes of Amazon Prime and Netflix going out of their way to ensure the lockdown and post-lockdown blues don’t hit us too hard!
With so much content being added with every passing day, there are so many options we have for choosing what we spend our time with. Shows like Tiger King, The Good Place and Brooklyn Nine-Nine showcase the huge variety of shows available to binge through right now and prove that there is something for everyone out there!
4-Rewatch a classic
Following on from the point about streaming services, more and more platforms have begun digging into their archives and digging out some classic shows, festivals and matches from years gone by. Admittedly it’s a bit surreal at first seeing people congregating in crowds, but we’ve found one of the best ways of leaving the lockdown blues behind you is by losing yourself in some nostalgia for a time!
Check your YouTube, Twitch and regular TV guides for rewinds, watchalongs and old showings that might be on to help kill a good couple hours!
