A brave three-year-old girl has found the strength to fight a rare cancer – with the help of pop star Adele.
Little Isabel Zoia-Dickson got hooked on the singer’s music while having treatment for childhood cancer neuroblastoma.
She regularly silences the hospital ward with her rendition of Skyfall and recently recorded a message saying, ‘Adele, you wanna be my friend?’
Mum Carolina, 32, said: “The whole family are into music and Isabel has been exposed to it throughout her life – it sort of never goes off in our home.
“But when we began the treatment she really made it clear she wanted to listen to Adele.
“I had to make a playlist on my phone of every Adele song and I haven’t been allowed to listen to anything else since March of last year.
“All of our drives to and from the hospital are with Adele songs on loud, I’m not allowed to talk and most of the time she sings along with her eyes closed.
“It was very difficult in the beginning for me because I was already emotional watching my daughter suffer and Adele‘s music isn’t always light.
“But as the treatment progressed and it involved less pain, the songs are just a way for Isabel to feel safe and get ready.”
Carolina and her husband David, who live in Chelmsford, Essex, first noticed something wasn’t right with Isabel back in January 2015.
The youngster has spent the last year in and out of Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, Cambs., and has had chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy, and immunotherapy.
The rare cancer, called neuroblastoma, affects around 100 children each year in the UK – mainly children under the age of five.
Carolina said the staff at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge where Isabel is being cared for even learnt to play Skyfall on the keyboard.
She added: “The music therapist made the mistake of asking Isabel her favourite song, expecting something like ‘the wheels on the bus’ – Isabel was still two at the time.”
Medics treating the youngster are now trying to get the hashtag #IsabellovesAdele trending in a bid for the superstar to notice her before her concert at the O2 Arena in London on March 16.
Nurse Laura Daley said: “Isabel is a pleasure to care for as she was such a sweet patient.
“She’s been an inspiration to watch go through chemotherapy and radiotherapy so courageously and I’m so proud of her.
“Most three-year-old girls idolise Elsa and Anna from Frozen but Isabel has other ideas.
“Meeting Adele would be all her dreams coming true and knowing she will be singing along to her perform at the O2 rather than in hospital fills my heart with joy.
“But the thought of her meeting her in person and what it would mean to this brave little miracle is indescribable.
“Please help Isabel’s dream come true and get this message to Adele in the hope she has it in her heart to make a very special little girl a very happy one too.”
Thankfully the family managed to get their hands on some much sought after tickets to one of Adele‘s gigs to get Isabel one step closer to her dream.
Mother-of-two Carolina said: “Isabel flat out said ‘I want to see the music. I want to see Adele‘s music,’ she didn’t even know how to say concert yet.
“My husband David and I weren’t sure what to do and we had no idea a new album would come out and that there would be a tour.
“At this point she had never seen Adele, not even a picture of her, so we bought the DVD and watched it with her.
“The first thing she said was ‘she is so beautiful in her sparkly dress’ and that was when we knew we had to do something.
“When Adele released Hello I lost count of how many times she watched the video.
“We would love to be able to meet Adele after the concert and get a picture with her but Isabel is three and might go completely shy.
“Isabel is getting to ‘see her music’ anyway and anything more will just be her dream.”
The tot’s older sister, six-year-old Helena, even donated her hair over the weekend to the Little Princess Trust which makes wigs for cancer sufferers.
Adele kicked off Adele Live 2016 in Belfast February 29 and will start her stretch in England today (Mon) with a show in Manchester.
It’s her first UK and European tour since 2011 and her latest album, 25, has so far spent 10 non-consecutive weeks in the No. 1 spot.
