It’s not a wind-up — this watch has gone on sale for a cool £500,000.
The handmade ‘Opera Two’ Girard-Perregaux time piece took 500 hours to assemble and features 37 jewels, an ivory dial, dark brown alligator strap and 18 carat pink gold case.
It never needs adjusting for short or long months and uses a precise mechanism which includes an oscillating cage to protect its delicate balance wheel from the Earth’s gravitational pull.

The timepiece has gone on sale at ROX the jewellers in Edinburgh and is the only watch of its kind in the UK.
Managing director of ROX, Kyron Keogh, said: “This is an incredibly rare and innovative time piece which would take pride of place in any watch enthusiast’s collection.
“We are confident that the Opera Two will be of great interest to our customers.
“The demand for luxury watches in Edinburgh is incredible proving that the luxury market in Edinburgh is buoyant despite the bite of the double dip recession.
“As such, we are focusing on bringing the most coveted time pieces to ROX Edinburgh to provide an unrivalled selection for the city’s serious watch connoisseurs.”
