Telecoms firm 2Abroad has added China to its growing range of countries that UK customers can call for free.
The firm’s ZipCall service has added the Far East destination after free calls to the U.S. and Canada proved popular.
The only requirement to use the service is that the customer has free calls to UK landlines included in his or her landline or mobile.
2Abroad Managing Director Alistair Gates said: ‘We have been overwhelmed at the level of interest for free calls to the USA and Canada; adding China was a natural next step as it’s a very popular destination with both businesses and consumers.
‘We hope that by offering high quality free calls with no catches our customers will be able to communicate freely without being concerned about their phone bill.’
With ZipCall there is no registration, no accounts, no downloads and no internet connection is needed.
The only situation in which a call made via ZipCall will not be free is if the customer does not have free minutes. In this case, the call will be charged as a standard rate landline call. OFCOM mandates that all landline and mobile providers are required to include calls to 03 numbers in free minutes.
‘Calls to 03 numbers cost no more than a national rate call to an 01 or 02 number and must count towards any inclusive minutes in the same way as 01 and 02 calls,’ according to Ofcom.
To use ZipCall….
- Call 0333 232 3232
- Enter the international number (00 + Country Code + Area Code + Local number) (do not press the call key again)
- That’s it – you will be connected
