10. BMW 1-Series
One of the most premium family hatchbacks money can buy, the BMW 1-Series offers a premium badge and excellent residuals. It has some strong engines too. BMW managed to shift 22,437 of them in 2013.
Not bad, huh?
9. Peugeot 208
The Peugeot 208 is a fun, stylish super mini that doesn’t have the class of a Polo or the verve of a Fiesta.
It does, however, sit squarely in the middle, and as such it came ninth in 2013 car sales with 23,294 sold.
8. BMW 3-Series
The BMW 3-Series is an excellent saloon and probably the best money can buy for the price. Perhaps that’s why it was the best selling saloon in 2013. We’d go for a 320d in M Sport trim. 24,658 were sold in 2013.
7. Volkswagen Polo
The Ford Fiesta closest rival, the VW Polo, came seventh in car sales in 2013 with just over 26,000 units
sold. That will please VW I’d imagine, as they like their cars to appear that little bit more exclusive.
6. Nissan Qashqui
This was the best selling crossover in the UK in 2013, and it’s amazing that it even managed to get within the top 10 cars in general. Not because it’s bad, but because it’s not exactly the best looking car. Nissan sold approximately 31,424 Qashqui’s in 2013.
5. Volkswagen Golf
Unsurprisingly the wonderful VW Golf came fifth, with 37,000+ models sold in 2013. With a classy cabin, strong engines and a not so unreasonable price, the VW Golf is expected to do just as well in 2014.
4. Vauxhall Astra
Fourth place was the Vauxhall Astra, with almost 40,000 units sold. The starting price for this car is just £12,995, and with generous equipment levels and a great drive, it’s easy to see why it flew off the shelves.
3. Vauxhall Corsa
Third place in 2013 was the Vauxhall Corsa, a fun little super mini that offers good value for money and a desirable image. The VXR version is particularly sweet, if a little dated now. Vauxhall sold 51,133 Corsa’s in 2013.
2. Ford Focus
The Ford Focus was the best selling family hatchback in the UK in 2013 with over 54,000 units sold.
Bristol Street Motors used Ford Focus is just one of those, with motorists loving the practicality and reliability. The Focus managed to beat the Golf by a considerable margin.
1. Ford Fiesta
The Ford Fiesta was the best selling car of 2013, with over 70,000 units sold. That’s a lot. The facelift Fiesta helped sales to soar, with the ST model helping to bring the little super mini back into the view of younger drivers.
