This wacky couple celebrated their nuptials – by hopping on Glasgow’s subways ystem.
Aileen and Malcolm McConnell stunned weekend commuters when they stepped aboard the underground love train with 40 wedding guests in tow.
After tying the knot at Glasgow’s Park Circus Registry Office, Malcolm, 29 took new bride Aileen, 27, to Kelvingrove Park to have pictures taken.
The couple’s 40-strong wedding party followed them to the park before heading into the city centre for the reception at Sloan’s Bar.
When the newlyweds advised family and friends to meet them at the bar while they took the subway, the guests insisted on following them.
Subway staff and commuters were stunned when Malcolm, from Glasgow’s west end, arrived at the Kelvinbridge information desk with his bride on Saturday asking for more than 40 tickets to St Enoch.
Once in town, the colourful crew had heads turning yet again as they made the short walk to the Argyle Street bar.
Gordon Maclennan, chief executive of Strathclyde Passenger Transport said: “A Subway car isn’t a typical wedding car but I’m glad we were able to add to the McConnells’ special day by getting them – and their guests – to their reception in style and keeping their celebrations on track.”
