Iron Mike Tyson stunned diners at a curry house after turning up looking more light-weight than heavy-weight – before scoffing six courses.
The former world champion, who had ballooned in weight until turning vegan this year, was a shadow of his former self in size and washed down the meal with honey TEA.
He and his team of bodyguards had dropped for a curry at the Bombay Brasserie, in Peterborough, Cambs., while visiting the city to perform an after-dinner show.
Fearsome Tyson, 44, notorious for biting a chunk off Evander Holyfield’s ear in the ring, had all his dishes specially cooked to meet his vegan requirements.
Restaurant manager Rony Choudhury, 55, said Tyson and his team left behind a ”generous tip”, chatted with diners and signed napkins for three and a half hours.
Tyson was one of the most feared fighters of his generation earning the nickname ‘Iron Mike’ after winning 44 of his 50 fights by knockout.
He started his mammoth meal with a mixed salad dish topped with chilli and soy sauce before tucking into six curry dishes.
Tyson scoffed a Bombay Aloo and Sag Bhaji and Cauliflower Bhaji followed by an Aubergine Curry, Mushroom Chilli and Chana Masala with one large plain rice.
As a devout Muslim and vegan Tyson abstained from alcohol and instead sipped cups of tea with honey during his visit on Monday.
Mr Choudhury said: ”He was here for a long time. He’s a very nice man and just wanted a nice curry.
”I created these six dishes for him because he is a vegan and he must have liked them as the plates all came back clean.
”They were very, very spicy. We made all different varieties for him.
”He’s a wonderful chap and very pleasant. He paid the bill and everyone was happy. We’ve had some wonderful celebrities here but he was the best one.”
Diner Noel Westwood said: ”He signed an autograph for my grandson Jake. He and his party were not loud at all, and seemed to just want a nice quiet meal.”
Tyson was in Peterborough to appear at a special ‘Evening with Mike Tyson” at the East of England Showground, tomorrow (Thurs).
Tyson punched his way onto the heavyweight boxing scene in the 1980s winning his first 19 fights by knockout.
He was crowed the youngest champion of all time when he won the title aged 20-years-old in 1986.
Tyson served three years in jail after being convicted for sexually assaulting Desiree Washington in 1992.
On his return to the ring Tyson famously bit a chunk off Evander Holyfield’s ear and spat it to the canvas during their title fight in 1997.
He retired in 2006 with a ring record of 50 wins, six losses and two fights ruled no contests.
Bombay Brasserie opened in Peterborough in 1981 and celebrity diners included former Prime Minister John Major, comedians Jim Davidson and Lenny Henry and pop singer Peter Andre.
