This adorable heard of cows left onlookers stunned after shunning the heat of a grassy field to cool off in the searing sunshine – on a sandy BEACH.
The fifteen black, white, and sandy cattle, were snapped as they chilled out by the clear blue waters of St Germans beach in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, during 25*C heat.
Retired electrician Alan Hall, 67 and his wife Christine, 64, a retired school secretary were amazed to see the herd stretching out and relaxing in the sand.
The couple quickly whipped out their digital camera to capture the extraordinary sight before the cattle headed back to their field above the waterside.
Grandmother-of-three Christine, of Wiggenhall St Germans, near King’s Lynn, said she ”couldn’t believe it” when she first saw the cheeky cows stretched out on the beach.
She said: ”We had such a shock when we saw them lying down on the beach.
”Obviously the hot weather got too much for them in their field and they decided to chill out on the sand instead.
”It was so funny to see them all splayed out soaking up the rays – I’ve never seen anything like it before.
”It says something about how hot it was that even the cows needed to head to the beach.”
The couple took the pictures as they walked along the River Great Ouse past an area known as St Germans beach, which has wide stretches of sand along the water’s edge.
