Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard is a doubt for the club’s Europa Cup tie against Sparta Prague tomorrow night.
The midfielder has missed the last two matches with a groin injury with manager Kenny Dalglish refusing to take any risks with his talisman.
Dalglish’s team take on Sparta Prague in the second leg of the last 32 tie tomorrow night following last week’s bore draw in the Czech Republic.
With Gerrard and Carroll out injured and Luis Suarez cup-tied, this leaves Liverpool with limited attacking options – with rookie Frenchman David Ngog expected to play a role in the tie.
Daniel Agger is available for the Sparta clash after returning from a short spell on the sidelines while Joe Cole is in contention to make his first start under Dalglish.
The Liverpool boss also played down whether or not Gerrard would be fit to play a part in Sunday’s Premier League clash at West Ham.
He told the club’s website: “He could be (involved), we will just have to wait and see.
“He is that close that we might have a decision to make whether we take a chance or leave him.
“We’ve not to come to that stage yet, but it could be what we’re faced with tomorrow.”
