Police are launching a crack down against doggers who are littering a beauty spot – with hundreds of used CONDOMS.
Cannock Chase has long been a place for randy couples and voyeurs turning up for sex – the most famous being ex footballer Stan Collymore who romped there in 2004.
But Staffordshire Police revealed yesterday the problem, which has long blighted the Chase, is now getting worse which more than 100 people reported dogging at the site each week.
Officers believe the exhibitionists are travelling to Staffordshire from Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire to three specific car parks at the remote beauty spot.
Wildlife and rural officer Pc Pete Clarke, from Staffordshire Police, said: “A concern is the litter doggers leave behind.
“These include used contraceptives which could be a health risk.”
The force has launched Operation Muttley to crack down on doggers.
Extra patrols will be deployed to tour the area predominantly early in the morning and late at night.
Mum-of-two Karen Austin, 34, from Cannock, said: “I don’t know why more people are suddenly coming to the Chase – perhaps because it’s so secluded.
“I have two young children and we often go to the park with our dogs to let the animals run around.
“However I’m going to have to find somewhere else to go now.
“I don’t want my children finding used condoms or other nasty things, it just isn’t safe.
“Something needs to be done about it, maybe even adding police to the spots so that people won’t go there.
“These doggers are ruining a perfectly lovely beauty spot and that is wrong.”
