Tottenham Hotspur new boy Steven Pienaar is out injured for two weeks after an accidental collision with a teammate.
The 28-year-old midfielder, who signed for Spurs from Everton in January, clashed heads with fellow South African Bongani Khumalo in training.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp said: “Our other South African Bongani thought Steven’s head was the ball and knocked him unconscious in training.”
Pienaar will be out for two weeks – making him a doubt for Spurs’ Champions League clash with AC Milan on February 15.
His freak injury is the latest for Redknapp to contend with as he attempts to assemble a squad for this weekend’s match against Bolton.
Spurs are already missing Gareth Bale, Ledley King, Tom Huddlestone and Luca Modric, who has just undergone knee surgery.
Redknapp tried to strengthen Spurs’ midfield in January but his “insulting” £250,000 bid for Everton captain was rejected.
Despite the long injury list, Spurs continued their challenge for a Champions League place next season with a hard-earned one-nil victory against Blackburn Rovers last night.

Two weeks? Must be a concussion, and a bad one, at that. And/or a skull fracture? What next??
