George Michael has reportedly been offered a £1 million deal by Simon Cowell to join the US X Factor judging panel.
Simon was spotted leaving the 47-year-old pop icon’s home last month, and it believed George sees the job as an opportunity to salvage his career following his drug-driving convictions.
A source told The Sun: “George is going to take the job. It’s an amazing opportunity to get abck in the limelight and reverse his bad spell. Simon knows that Americans loves him. He is as big in the US as he is over here.
“He is a true star and has the wit and experience for the job. It’s the perfect platform to resurrect his career.”
However, George’s criminal convictions could get in the way of him securing a work permit. Cheryl Cole, who is reported to have been offered a £3 million contract to star on the show, is rumoured to be facing work permit issues thanks to her conviction for Actual Bodily harm (ABH).
The rumourmill has been in overdrive surrounding who Cowell will be asking to join him on the American version of the show. Noel Gallagher and Mick Jagger have both been recently named as potential panel members, and past rumours have suggested Katy Perry, Mariah Carey, Nicole Scherzinger, Lady Gaga, Kylie Minogue and Kelly Rowland could all be in line for the job.
