This is the scene of devastation after a motorist went on a wrecking spree and rammed into seven vehicles in a supermarket car park.
Shoppers watched in horror as a car shunted several vehicles around the overspill car park at Sainsbury’s in Melksham, Wilts,. at 1pm on Saturday (06/11).
Miraculously, only two people needed hospital treatment, one for whiplash and one for chest pains.
A 19-year-old man was arrested and bailed after police questioning.
Eyewitness Susan Dewfall said: ”It was a scene of chaos. Some cars were shunted right into the hedge, others had spun right round.
”You can imagine the car that did it must have been travelling at some speed. It was a busy time and normally the car park is full on a Saturday.
”There were people wandering amongst the wreckage who had obviously just come out with their shopping to find their cars damaged.”
A spokesman for Wiltshire Police said: ”It was lucky no one was seriously hurt. The circumstances of exactly what happened are still being investigated.”
A Sainsbury’s spokesman said: “An incident occurred on Saturday in the car park of our Melksham store and we are currently assisting the authorities in their investigation.”
