Brazilian football legend Ronaldo has revealed on Twitter he is taking a paternity test to see if he’s the father of a five-year-old boy.
The striker met the boy’s mother, Michele Umezu, in 2002 at a World Cup party in Tokyo where he struck up a relationship with the lady.
In 2004, when he returned to the city with Real Madrid, she is thought to have become pregnant by the World Cup winner – who already has three children.
The 34-year-old footballer, who now plays for Brazilian outfit Corinthians, tweeted: “Life is full of surprises. After the sadness over yesterday’s game today I got to know Alex, a beautiful, polite and healthy boy.
“Now we are waiting for the results of the test and will take on the responsibilities and pleasures that the results give us.”
Ronaldo burst onto the footballing scene in the mid-Nineties as a teenage phenomenon, enjoying prolific goalscoring spells for PSV Eindhoven, Barcelona, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
The striker, who is the highest goalscorer in World Cup history with 15 strikes, already has a ten-year-old son from a former relationship and daughters aged one and eight months with wife Bia.
