A paedophile NHS worker who was caught with more than ONE MILLION sick child porn images was today beginning a six year jail sentence.
Christopher Roche, 47, made and downloaded perverted images and videos containing horrific child sex abuse, some involving tots aged just a few months old.
The court heard the desperate pervert even bought a computer and downloaded a further 1,329 indecent child porn pictures – while on BAIL for the offences.
Police raided Roche’s home after his name was discovered on another paedo’s computer.
Officers found hundreds of thousands of images stashed on his computer hard drive, laptops and memory sticks.
They also discovered the NHS fraud investigator had been abusing one young girl for nearly a decade after following a papertrail of his disgusting photographs.
Loner Roche pleaded guilty to eight counts of distributing pictures of child abuse, five of making indecent images and two of possessing the sick haul at Swindon Crown Court.
He also admitted nine counts of indecent assault on a female.
Judge Euan Ambrose told Roche he had ‘blighted’ the life of his sex abuse victim after becoming ”totally consumed with child abuse”.
Sentencing Roche to six years in prison, he said: ”It is clear that this was something present throughout her childhood, making her fearful and scared, not only to disclose for fear of potential retribution but fear generally.
”It has blighted her adult life.”
The court heard police stumbled across Roche, from Shaw, near Melksham, Wilts., after his named cropped up on another person’s seized computer.
They swooped on two addresses for him, in Swindon and Leicester, in May 2008, recovering a wealth of computer equipment and storage devices.
Officers found Roche had accessed websites involved in distributing indecent images of children and had also emailed the webmaster to request photos of a girl.
His horror haul contained more than one million indecent photos and videos, but police only studied and categorised 119,686 – spanning across all levels of seriousness.
Hannah Squire, prosecuting for the CPS, said 90 per cent of the images depicted children under 13 and some showed babies of only a few months old performing sex acts.
The images were systematically categorised by the children’s names and had been collected between September 1998 and May 2008.
Ms Squire said Roche also distributed indecent images to others and discussed sexual activities – including child rape – on an online messenger with other paedophiles.
Some specially doctored images, which had been sent to others, led police to a woman who revealed she was routinely abused by Roche between in the 1970s and early 1980s.
The victim said she suffered at the hands of the monster for eight years, when she was aged between three and 11 – and Roche just aged between 10 and 18.
He admitted the offences, but while on bail, bought a computer and downloaded a further 1,329 indecent images of children aged under 13.
Ms Squire said Roche had admitted to police that he had been ”totally consumed with child abuse”.
Sukhdev Garcha, defending, said single Roche had cocooned himself into a ”disturbing” fantasy existence, after being shunned by the outside world.
He said: ”This matter provokes emotions and the first blush reaction may be one of disgust, one of horror, and the defence will not try to down play that.
”He was bullied as a child at his secondary school. He had no friends and led a very lonely existence and he suffered from very low confidence.
”While he has been neglected by the outside world, he has cocooned himself into this fantasy world which is disturbing.”
Roche was also handed a Sexual Offences Prevention Order and told he must sign the Sex Offenders Register.
