French defender Patrice Evra has ended any uncertainty and Manchester United by signing a new deal at Old Trafford.
The combative left-back, regarded as one of the game’s finest, has signed an extension to his contract which now runs until the end of the 2013/14 season.
Evra’s commitment brings an end to any rumours of a departure from the club he signed for in 2006.
He told Man United’s official website: “Ever since I arrived at United, it’s been a dream come true playing here.
“The fans, the players, the manager and the staff all work hard to make this club the best in the world.
“I’ve won a lot in the last five years, but I want to win more and I know that’s the mentality of everyone here.”
Rio Ferdinand shared his joy at Evra’s announcement, tweeting “Amen”.
Fellow teammate Ryan Giggs revealed on Friday that he had signed a one-year extension to remain at Old Trafford.
