A pair of lovebirds have got engaged – after meeting through Philip Schofield’s Twitter feed.
Smitten Ellen Stafford and Neil Massey both follow the silver-haired TV presenter on Twitter and started exchanging messages while reading his posts.
They met in person in 2009 and dated for two years before computer expert Neil proposed on Saturday.
Ellen – Twitter name @Webkin1979 – and Neil (@NON53N53) are thought to be the first British couple to get engaged after meeting on the micro-blogging site.
She tweeted the news to Philip, 49, known as @Schofe.
She wrote: ”It’s official guys! @NON53N53 and I got engaged today. thanks to following @Schofe.
He responded on the site by saying: ”Congratulations to @Webkin1979 & @NON53N53. I’m chuffed I played cupid.”
Newspaper delivery girl Ellen said she wasn’t sure if they will invite the This Morning presenter to their big day.
Speaking from her home in Bath, Somerset, she said: ”No date is set yet but I’m so happy. I’m not sure if we’ll invite Philip – but I don’t expect he’d come.
”We’re really happy, I’m the happiest lady alive I think. We met through me and Philip Schofield following Neil on twitter.
”I don’t think I’ve been happier.
”We’re just really, really happy with how things have gone since we met.”
