Letting it all hang out, the morbidly obese glamour models posing nude in the name of art

It is said that the camera adds ten pounds – but that wouldn’t make a difference to these morbidly obese glamour models.

While most photographers dream of getting stick-thin supermodels to pose in front of their lens, Italian photographer Yossi Loloi , 36, has gone in an opposite direction.

He has produced these shocking images of super-sized women – in all their naked glory – for the sake of art.

Each woman in the project weighs at least 30 stone – with the heaviest pushing 43 stone – and hides nothing from the intrusive glare of the lens.

His fascination with women of size led him to New York’s underground ‘fat acceptance’ scene in 2006 where he began taking these provocative images of women, known as SSBBW (Super-sized Big Beautiful Women).

Yossi went on to produce FullBeauty, a project of full nudes that turns the notion of beauty and form, fashion and attraction on its head.

“I wanted to show that beauty isn’t owned by skinny people alone,” said Yossi.

“To this end the project had to be provocative, but at the same time reassuring, so I focussed on their fullness and femininity as a form of protest against discrimination.

“My intention was to show women of size in a way that would be hard for people to criticise. So I shot them in settings that weren’t instantly recognizable.

“This way, the subjects would be taken out of context and viewed in their own intimacy, creating a sense of liberation and serenity.

“I was more interested in shooting these women for what they represent and not necessarily who they are in real life – to me they are human sculptures.”

While the photographs in his project will be judged by most on their artistic merit, Yossi accepts that they will be taken the wrong way by some viewers.

“It saddens me sometimes when people stop ‘at the gates’ of the ‘health issue’ rather than stepping inside the image and trying to understand it.

“It shows how we are spoiled culturally and so it is my job as an artist to ‘awaken’ feelings in others, be it outrage or marvel.

“With FullBeauty I am trying to underline that we all have the right to be appreciated the way we are and that there should be no dictatorship on taste.”

    • BUT as an artist if I had the choice to paint a woman of Rubenesque proportions as opposed to a skinny boring woman then believe me myself and the vast majority of ‘life artists’ prefer painting flesh as opposed to bone..Go and look at British artist Jenny Saville..what might not be aesthetic to you in your airbrushed world to the artist we see beauty.

    • I am 62 and i definately would plant what i could. I have a fettish for the obese it is just more to hug and they need the rod once in a while.

  1. I’m not being funny but should something so unhealthy even attempt to be glamourised….. whether it’s obese or skinny :/

    • Im not sure its about glamuorizing a certaim type Its about not being prejudice just because someone isn’t as thin as someone else, and no one should be ridiculed about size ,worry about ones self instead of worrying what you think others should be doing At least that s way I perceieve it!

    • Roch my comment above from an art perspective explains that the whole point of these photos isn’t for silly men to jerk off to or be compared to airbrushed unobtainable perfection..The person taking these photos is using the form ,the way the light bounces off all the folds in these ladies flesh etc as his or her ‘canvas’ ..The comments here are typical of ill educated and I’m guessing mainly non British/European men who think with their dicks..sad as it proves people don’t read text before they type rude comments.

    • Yes they are But you shouldn’t hide that you like heavy women, there isn’t anything wrong with it,some men prefer skinny or some womaen prefer big or short or tall Its ok

  2. Whereas I of course understand that it is not healthy to be this large, I still think these ladies are very beautiful and sexy. Please keep up the good work and give us more!

  3. lovely, sexy women come in all shapes and sizes, think on you size 8 lovers , who will never aspire your dreams .
the song says it all and goes like this.
Girls i like em fat, i like em tall, some skinny, some tall.I`ve got to get to know them all,

  4. Anyone confident enough to pose nude for publically viewable art has to be due some respect for having the stones to do so. 😀

    • Look at your soul,if you don’t like heavy that’s fine but it doesn’t mean they should be criticized or ridiculed because you or someone else doesn’t like it!

  5. I would passionately make love to any one of them for 2-3 hours of bliss. They are my kind of super-models. Bumping and grinding with the skinny type is exactly as sexy as sleeping with a bicycle. Guess I ought to move to the middle-east where the bigger the woman the bigger the dowry. People who know my taste always ask “Doesn’t it all get in the way? That’s like asking a swimmer “Doesn’t all that water get in the way”? Sure! Half the pleasure is moving the heavenly plush to get where you want to go. The other half is all the exciting things that happen when you get there! Gads, I’m getting hard just writing this…..!

  6. Ok, fine. I don’t discriminate against “big love” or obesity. But this is perpetuating an extremely healthy trend across Europe and United States. Most of these women will be dead in five years.

    • No they wont,Fat does not equal unhealthy ,this is promoting loving yourself. Why should anybody hate on them or why should they think less of themselves just because they aren’t thin..beauty is in all sizes colors and forums, race whatever!

  7. All the faux concern for the health of these women is disgusting. If you are going to disparage someone because you are a judgmental dolt at least has the courage not to stand behind the health issue. The reality is you people could care less about the health of these models all you want to do is point a disapproving finger at them and in the process feel better about yourselves. So stop the bullshit.

These women are beautiful because beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What is one man’s garbage is another man’s treasure. It’s a super simple concept but unfortunately most of you are too narcissistic and dare I say stupid to understand it.

  8. Love the pictures. Think they are stunning. Unfortunately medical care is almost nonexistant in practice, and helps to increase morbidity and mortality. Discrimination is pervasive as witnessed by some of the posts on this website.
