A Manchester United fan who changed his name to ERIC CANTONA died one day before his beloved team lifted the Premier League trophy, it emerged yesterday (Wed).
Tragic Eric, 28, whose real name was Ben Gormley, was found dead at his home in Worcester on Saturday May 11 – 24 hours before Sir Alex Ferguson’s last game at Old Trafford.
The super-fan was so dedicated to the club he even switched his name to honour one their most famous players Eric Cantona.
An inquest into his death was opened at Worcestershire Coroner’s Court on Tuesday (21/5) under his changed name.
The medical cause of his death has not yet been determined and the inquest was adjourned for reports.
