Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina is rumoured to be a £20 million target for bitter rivals Manchester United.
The Spanish star is being eyed up by table-topping United as a replacement for Edwin van der Sar, who yesterday announced he was retiring from football at the end of the season.
Reina, 28, has continued to be a beacon of light on an otherwise disastrous season for Liverpool – which has seen the Reds spend much of the campaign in the bottom half of the table.
He has always pledged his loyalty to the Anfield club but the offer of Champions League football and a bumper pay packet could tempt the resolve of the goalkeeper, who recently kept his 150th clean sheet for Liverpool.
The news comes as Liverpool’s other Spanish star, Fernando Torres, became a target for champions Chelsea.
Liverpool rejected a £35 million bid from the Londoners for Torres although it’s understood the striker is considering his options.
