Police were appealing for information today after a man was caught on camera stealing a PALM TREE.
CCTV images show the thief casually walking down a main street with the tree slung over his shoulder in the early hours of July 11.
Police say the man broke the palm at the base to steal it from a flower bed in the centre of Newquay, Cornwall.
Newquay inspector Dave Folland said the tree was part of the town’s entry in a regional horticultural competition.
He said: ”We just don’t need this sort of behaviour, particularly ahead of the Southwest in Bloom competition.”
