A magician performed a disappearing act on his audience – because he was so bad they all walked out.
Around 100 people left in disgust after Martyn Smith took 40 MINUTES to perform his first trick, which he kept getting wrong and had to re-start several times.
His show – called Martyn Smith Gives You Awegasms – was part of the Bath Comedy Festival and promoted as ”a cross between Paul Daniels and Ricky Gervais”.
But it was so bad that the entire audience at the Rondo Theatre in Bath, Somerset, left after enduring an hour of fumbled tricks and gags.
Lucy Pearson, a 34-year-old GP who watched the show on Wednesday night, said: ”He gave the impression that he had never done any of the tricks ever before.
”The only thing that made it like Ricky Gervais was that uncomfortable, cringing feeling you get when watching The Office.”
Mr Smith, 23, from Bristol, has been performing magic since the age of five and turned it into a stage show a year ago.
He said: ”It didn’t go anywhere near as well as I thought it would. I have never had an audience walk out on me before. It was quite something.
”I did try to apologise to them as they were walking out but I’m not sure they heard me.”
Rondo theatre director Ian McGlynn admitted: ”It simply wasn’t a very good show really.”
