Police were hunting two teenage girls after an 87-year-old woman was punched in the FACE.
Passengers on a London bus were stunned when one of the suspects, believed to be in her teens, struck the OAP – after the youngsters tried getting on without paying.
Met Police released CCTV of the shocking incident, which left the pensioner with a nasty black eye, in a bid to try to trace the two suspects.
There was a lengthy verbal exchange between the bus driver and two suspects, which caused most of the passengers to get off the bus, including the 87-year-old, who was hit as she got up to leave.
The girls boarded the bus without paying and, during a long altercation with the driver, most of the passengers got off the stationary vehicle.
As the elderly victim was leaving, one of the girls is clearly seen on the bus CCTV punching her in the face.
Police Sergeant Arran Hillier, from the Croydon Safer Transport Team, said: “This was a nasty attack on an elderly woman, who just wanted to get home.”
Police from the MPS Roads and Transport Policing Command made an arrest today (Mon) while investigating the attack on an elderly lady.
Officers nicked a 14-year-old girl on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm following the Friday afternoon attack.
Police say they have also identified the second female involved in the incident – but she has not been arrested at this time.
