Cheeky Chelsea fans have adapted Liverpool’s famous Fernando Torres song ahead of the striker’s debut this weekend.
Torres, signed from Anfield for £50 million, is expected to go into the Blues’ starting line-up this weekend where he will come face-to-face with his former teammates as Chelsea entertain Liverpool.
And in what is expected to be one the season’s fiercest clashes, Chelsea fans have taken the ‘Fernando Torres, Liverpool’s number 9’ chant and given it a Stamford Bridge take.
Rival teams, in the past, took the Torres song and gave it an anti-Liverpool stance – but the prospect of the striker being sung about in a positive note by fans from a different club is sure to rile supporters of the Reds even more:
He’s now a blue he was a red – Torres! Torres!
He’s left The Kop to join The Shed – Torres! Torres!
He didn’t want to be be a scouse,
He hates it when they rob your house
Fernando Torres – Chelsea’s new number nine!
They thought he’d always be a red – Torres! Torres!
You’ll never walk alone he said – Torres! Torres!
They bought the lad from sunny Spain,
He scored a few then grew a brain
He told the club he wants to leave,
To play with Frank instead of Steve
Fernando Torres – Chelsea’s new number nine!
It was rumoured that Chelsea had agreed a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with Liverpool that Torres wouldn’t play this weekend.
But the Spanish striker is expected to lead the frontline with new teammate Didier Drogba on Sunday as Chelsea look to reignite their title challenge which sees the club ten points behind leaders Man United.
And Torres admitted in an interview with Chelsea yesterday he is hoping to score against his former club when they face each other.
Bookies currently have the 26-year-old as 4/1 joint-favourite alongside Drogba to score first on Sunday with the Spaniard 6/1 to bag to brace and 33/1 to hit a hat-trick.
When Liverpool played Chelsea earlier this season, Torres scored twice against his then future club as the home team ran out 2-o winners.
His armband proved he was a Red, Suarez, Suarez…
He’ll Never Walk Alone, he said, Suarez, Suarez…
He bought a band from a lad in Spain, long blonde hair, forgot his name..
Luis Suarez Liverpool’s No 7
His mother said he wasn’t gay, Torres, Torres
He just likes to wear his hair that way, Torres, Torres
And when he scores he jumps for joy
He looks just like a lady boy
Fernando Torres, takes it up the arse!
He’s now a Blue, he was a Red, Torres, Torres
He hates the Kop, he loves the Shed, Torres, Torres
He used to go out on the rob
But now he’s got a proper job
Fernando Torres, Chelsea’s number nine
Typical Chavs got no imaginaion and have to pinch our songs our players – lets just face they’re so jealous of us and out history – now run alog you silly chavs and wave your silly flags on sunday P.s Torres Who??
Having witnessed the average Chelsea fans grasp for linguistics I’m quite sure they will at least be able to recite “TORRES, TORRES”. The question remains however, can they do that and wave their little plastic flags simultaneously?
